Sleep systems

Toubkal Winter: System 2

This system takes account of the varied sleeping accommodation on Toubkal – heated huts, unheated huts, or camping. Adding the Filler bag to System 1 increases the options to cover all of these, offering a temperature range from +5°C (41°F) through -5°C (23°F) down to -11°C. In the daytime the Alpine Ultra is a superb ultralight down jacket, while the down trousers will be welcome wherever you're based.
Typical Operating Temperature
Guideline minimum temperature. Sleeping Bag TOT: you should get a night’s sleep, under normal circumstances. Clothing TOT: you should feel warm enough, assuming low/moderate activity. Sleep System TOT: relates to full system. For more details, see our Technical Briefing.

Description:

This system combines different Plus items, using both clothing and the Filler bag to boost night-time warmth. It also makes use of this diversity to cover several different uses. Warmth on the mountain. Comfort around camp. And a good night down to -11°C if you need it.

But it also gives you several sleeping options.
•    Just the Minimus bag for +5°C in a heated hut.
•    Unheated hut? Slip the Filler bag inside the Minimus and it’s good for -5°C.
•    Camping? Wear the down clothing to bed inside the Filler and Minimus and you're covered for -11°C.
•    And on top of all that the Filler has one extra use: it can be doubled over and used as a halfbag to team up with the Alpine Ultra jacket for a bivvy.

K SeriesThe Minimus K Down Sleeping Bag is available in the K Series: performance is the same, but the exceptional loft of 1000 down reduces the weight of the bag to an amazing 380g (13.4oz).

Review relates to Minimus Down Sleeping Bag

"Over the past twenty five years have tried and tested many bags but as yet I can honestly say, have not found a more comfortable bag."
Jeremy Hastings, Islay Bushcraft.

Review relates to Alpine Ultra Down Jacket

"It's the perfect alpine downie - 330g and rated to -10 degrees - it blows the competition out of the water. Whilst the weight is awesome, you also get a tiny packed size out of it meaning that your down jacket won't eat up half your backpack space so you can go with a small backpack (20L) and keep a light and fast rhythm to your climbing."
Jon Griffith.

Review relates to Minimus Down Trousers

Backpacking Light - Highly recommended

"Overall Rating: Highly Recommended. These down pants are simple and light, just the way we want them. They have the most loft and highest loft:weight ratio of the three pants we tested; I couldn't ask for more. I found that I could extend the warmth of a 30°F (-1°C) sleeping bag to 15 °F (-9°C) by wearing these pants and a lightweight down jacket inside."
Will Rietveld, Backpacking Light. Read full review.

Review relates to Minimus Down Socks

"The Minimus trousers and socks are amazing. The combination of weight, compressed volume and insulation properties is outstanding. With down I was able to reduce my pack weight significantly."
Thim.

Review relates to Filler Down Sleeping Bag

"It is a pleasure, when you know the temperature is dropping, just to slip into another bag and double the warmth factor."
Sam Cook.

Works well with
From 541.02 465g +5℃
Minimalist design cuts weight, but not warmth. For lightweight camping, mountain marathons, trekking, or as a backup.
From 628.66 340g -10℃
A climbers' down jacket at the limits of lightness. Even with chest pockets and the optional helmet-sized hood, it's lighter, warmer and packs smaller than fleece. Now also available in custom sizes.
From 203.32 90g
Unbelievably light down-filled sock for warm feet in cold tents.
From 567.90 240g +15℃
A lightweight liner that boosts your sleeping bag's warmth by 10°C. On its own, the lightest of sleeping bags. A PHD 'K Series' product: warmth to weight at the limit of possibilities.
