Further Information
Ultralights for the mountains are the first words we put to the new Hispar sleeping bags and it’s hard to find a better way to describe them. Starting with superlight MX* inner fabric and the pared-down design features of the Minim range, we have added some of the extra elements from the Baltoro/Diamir bags to bring these new bags up to mountain specifications, while keeping weight to a minimum.
"It's absolutely fantastic . . . I'm over the moon"
Simon Horridge
The combination of this design with the superlative quality of the 900 down almost sends the new Hispar range off the scale for warmth/weight performance
The straight-wall baffle system (as used on the Minimus) is the lightest available, while the close-fitting mummy hood borrowed from the high-performance bags brings a snug protective feel. A short zip with a double draft tube is standard on these bags (a zip is necessary with a mummy hood), and side block baffles have been inserted to prevent down shifting between top and base. The outer V baffle at each side protects the side seams and increases the inner/outer differential to allow the down full loft. A simple internal collar completes the technical specifications.
The weights of the Hispar bags are graphic evidence of the effectiveness of this specific design. With the added performance of our new 900 down these bags deliver the greatest possible warmth per gram.

*Please note: we make our stuff sacs big enough to allow fairly easy stuffing rather than reducing the bags to the tightest minimum. What air is left in the packed item will easily be compressed out of it, if you are squashing it into a small space in your rucsace. Tiny stuff sacs look impressive: but unless you are a sac-wrestling fan, fighting the gear into them day after day can be an unncecessary chore.
‡Please note: the optional HS2 outer is a complete extra outer shell, with seams taped for weatherproofness. The extra layer of fabric adds considerably to the weight and bulk of the basic bag (around 180gm - 6oz). It increases the weatherproof qualities of the bag in mountain or arctic situations, but it is not a substitute for a proper bivvy bag when sleeping out in the rain.
"Just a quick note to thank you for the timely supply of the PHD down gear before my Mt Vinson trip. The gear was absolutely first class. I used the Hispar 1000 down sleeping bag which, if anything, was too warm!" Mark Dixon.
