Arran, Scotland, 2°C
Peter Hutchinson says:
"... 2°C was close to the limit for me (my circulation is poor now and I really feel the cold), but the Wafer gear did its job, inside the sleeping bag as well as out. I slept OK …"
Technical Note: This was a double try-out. I wanted to wear the Wafer clothing while setting up the camp and then sleep in it inside the 330g Ultra bag that night to make the comparison with a heavier bag (the lightest bag made through our DYO website warm enough to cope with +2°C weighs 555g).
The Ultra bag is rated at +8°C. With Wafer clothing inside that rating goes down to +3°C. On this occasion +2°C was close to the limit for me (my circulation is poor now and I really feel the cold), but the Wafer gear did its job, inside the sleeping bag as well as out. I slept OK and jacket and trousers kept me warm setting up the tent in a cold wind and breaking camp next morning.
* Peter wore lightweight thermals under his gear.
