A sleeping bag weighing just 260gm and designed for temperatures of 8°C, the Racebag has been hugely popular during recent summers. It remains one of the lightest sleeping bags in the world. With its box wall construction (to help the down filling loft to its maximum potential) it is a serious option for summer racing, ultralight trekking, or simply shaving off every possible gram.

The whole shell is 10X, one of our lightest fabrics, and the fill is PHD's superb 950 European goose down. The top is fully box-walled for warmth, while the base is stitched through to save weight where the down is compressed under the body.

Foot zip

For the lightest and smallest pack a sleeping bag without any zips is king, but for those with warm feet, or even race blisters, a foot zip can be more than just a little luxury. Adding only 10-12g to the total weight of the bag, the foot zip is the ultralight route to comfort.

Ultralight 10X fabric (weight: 26 gsm)

10X, PHD's first 10 Denier Fabric. 9,000 metres of the yarn used to weave 10X weighs just 10g, that's about the same as a £1 coin! For all its thinness 10X is amazingly downproof and with reasonable care will go on giving you good service for years.

950 fillpower down

A newcomer to our range. European goose of rare quality. A high value alternative at the top levels of performance. More on our down insulation.

This bag has an insulating straight wall baffle system on top (no straight-through stitching). Straight wall is the lightest of all baffle sytems. In cross section it looks like this:

On the bottom stitch-through seams are used to minimise weight. More on sleeping bag construction.

"The Racer Down Sleeping Bag feels ridiculously light. You don't notice it so much when it's loose and unstuffed, but pop it into the handy stuff sac - lightweight coated fabric but with no seal at the top - and it suddenly dawns on you that it's lighter and smaller than any sleeping bag you've ever come across. It has a gossamer-light feel and surprising loft given its minimalist size. It's ridiculously small, it's ridiculously light and while it's not exactly a portable furnace, first impressions are that it's also pretty warm for what it is." Jon Doran, OutdoorsMagic Review
