Description:

White-out blizzard conditions on the plateau can turn to rain lower down the mountain, so our Snowline down smock – shelled in our waterproof, breathable HS2 fabric with fully taped seams, along with water-resistant Aquaguard zips – works to seal out the worst of these changeable conditions. The fully sized helmet compatible hood, insulated hand warmer and stash pockets, the two-way front zip and the reflective zip pulls all increase the performance for winter mountaineers, ice climbers, trekkers and ski tourers.

Just as useful ‘out and about’ while off the mountains, the ‘grab and go’ nature of a waterproof down smock is really handy, particularly to those of us in Northern Europe with our damp winters.

The fully taped HS2 fabric has a Hydrostatic Head of 30,000mm and a Moisture Vapour Permeability of 20,000g/m2/24h making it highly waterproof and breathable, and has proved itself to be outstanding on the biggest and coldest mountains of the world. And the YKK Aquaguard water-resistant zips – backed by an insulated under-baffle – work to minimize air and water ingress.

Lighter than carrying a separate down top and a full mountain waterproof jacket, the Snowline packs down into its own stuff sac to take up minimum space in your rucksack.

Superlight MX fabric (weight: 32 gsm)

A mini-ripstop nylon with excellent tear strength, MX is the pick of the superfine 15 denier downproof materials. We have tested lighter fabrics, but most have had significant drawbacks, while our confidence in MX is based on several years of extensive use in both our ultralight and our high mountain gear.

950 fillpower down

A newcomer to our range. European goose of rare quality. A high value alternative at the top levels of performance. More on our down insulation.

Waterproof HS2 outer fabric (weight: 88 gsm)

HS2 is a 2-layer laminate, a high-spec option for the outer layer of our insulated gear. This ripstop fabric strikes an excellent balance between lightness and durability. It is light enough for our Belay tops and tough enough for expedition use in our Omega clothing, while the Kappa clothing makes full use of both its qualities. HS2 is completely waterproof (when the seams are taped) and offers excellent breathability. (Weight: 88gsm).
