Description:

Also available in custom sizes. We make clothing to order, so if you’re not a standard size we can make it to fit. To order a non-standard custom size, select the Custom Sizing tab, choose your body width, and then the body/arm lengths, shorter or longer, that work for you. A custom size takes us a little longer (typically two weeks longer) to make and, because it’s personalized, it’s non-returnable and our customer loyalty scheme can’t be applied.

With a tough, fully waterproof shell over the thick box-walled down inner, this jacket is capable of withstanding extremely cold and inhospitable conditions. All the seams of the Tempest outer fabric are fully taped to create a fully waterproof outer, and the thick 800 fillpower down insulates against Arctic temperatures.

The detachable hood adds versatility, whilst the zipped pockets (2 outer and 1 inner) and shock-cord hem keep the worst of the weather out.

The Arctic Jacket: a refuge for photographers, film crew and others who are static in harsh cold

When you’re standing or sitting around for hours, waiting for the perfect shot, a given temperature can feel much colder than it would if you were moving about. We’re often approached by film crew and photographers who are all too aware of this phenomenon, and need a warm and waterproof jacket for being out in the sort of weather that sees everyone else heading for home.

Robust, waterproof fabric – and pockets big enough for field guides and video scripts – make our Arctic Jacket very attractive with film crew such as Judi Lee, and with a Typical Operating Temperature * of −30C we can see why.

As a Production Sound Mixer she has to be still for hours and the cold used to seep in. Not anymore. She’s finding her new PHD kit “brilliant.” “We've been shooting night exteriors for the past week and I can say I haven't been even a bit chilly,” Judi says. “In fact, if I’m too active I have to let out some steam, much to the amusement of the crew! I'm trying to persuade my hubby to make the change from his North Face parka to PHD! Well worth the investment.”

* When we work out the Typical Operating Temperature (TOT) of a jacket, we assume that it’s being worn for low to moderate levels of activity, with some short static periods.
