Ultra Down Jacket (sale)

The sensation of immediate warmth is unsurpassed. The 1000-fill is so high-lofting, it puffs up as if a pump has been attached. Rare and wonderful.

Description:

Our lightest sub-zero down jacket has always been a favourite of extra-keen lightweight backpackers and mountain racers. Here we’ve upgraded it with water-resistant Ultrashell for extra protection in damp and drizzle.

950 down and M1 inner fabric, the exceptional lightweight components used in this jacket, have allowed us to make a sub-zero down jacket at 280gm (10oz) that is both comfortable and offers surprising warmth inside the windproof and water-resistant Ultrashell fabric.

It shares the pared-down design principles of the whole Ultra range: light Lycra cuffs, waist-level front pockets, zipped inner security pocket, and a drop-tail back. Together with elasticated side-panels, for a closer, warmer fit, great performance is guaranteed.

30% less than the K Series version.

Dispatch time: As with all PHD products, these are made to order and by hand. We estimate it will take us around 4 to 6 weeks to make and dispatch sale orders. During busy periods it may take a little longer.

Ultrashell (weight: 40 gsm)

One of the lightest of PHD's coated materials. This ripstop nylon provides complete wind block and good water resistance at minimal weight. Ultrashell gives an excellent upgrade to performance with very little weight penalty.

Lightweight M1 fabric (weight: 39 gsm)

Lightweight silky microfibre. This close-weave 20 denier fabric is fully downproof, but also light and flexible enough to allow the down full loft. A reliable performer that has been the basis for much of our lightweight gear for some time.

950 fillpower down

A newcomer to our range. European goose of rare quality. A high value alternative at the top levels of performance. More on our down insulation.

Review is for our K Series Ultra Jacket:

"The sensation of immediate warmth is unsurpassed. The 1000-fill is so high-lofting, it puffs up as if a pump has been attached; this is enhanced by wide baffles, which allow the down to expand so quickly. Weight is kept to a minimum through simple but effective design. Overall it was a dream to wear. PHD is the only company in the world using 1000-fillpower down in clothing and sleeping bags for expeditions and mountaineering: rare, indeed, and wonderful."

"Your kit is AMAZING !! Wow - very impressed. I'm a really cold person but even on my own in a tent at -8°C I was comfortably warm. It's also incredibly light. So light, the organisers made me take extra items to MAKE UP weight in my bag!"
Rebecca Ferry, using the Jacket in the Everest Trail Race, where she came in 4th in the women's race.
