Description

The Yukon Jacket was originally created as a racer's jacket — lightweight but warm enough for very cold events like the Yukon Ultra. It has proved itself since as an excellent piece of gear for a wide range of uses. It has box-wall construction and extra fill to boost its performance well beyond the rest of our ultralight clothing.

This special version of our Yukon Jacket has a chest pocket for a smartphone or compact camera. And when temperatures really drop low, then swap your phone/camera to the inside pocket under the warm insulation.

It is also made with a waterproof / breathable HS2 fabric outer (ripstop).

Untaped for lightness, the HS2 outer fabric offers good protection to the down in damp snowy conditions. As with the regular Yukon jacket it has a hood, zipped hand-warmer pockets and a drawcord hem.

£100, less than our standard Yukon jacket.

This is not designed as a high mountain jacket like the Hispar or the Xero. But when the kit has to be ultralight and stitch-through jackets are just not warm enough, the Yukon can be the ideal choice.

Please note: although the outer fabric is waterproof, the stitch lines are un-taped for lightness. So, although the outer will shed rain and snow, in a heavy downpour water can penetrate the stitching. As always in the mountains, if there is a possibility of rain, carry full specification waterproofs.

Dispatch time: As with all PHD products, these are made to order and by hand. We estimate it will take us around 20 working days to make and dispatch sale orders. During busy periods it may take a little longer.

Technical

Lightweight M1 fabric (weight: 39 gsm)

Lightweight silky microfibre. This close-weave 20 denier fabric is fully downproof, but also light and flexible enough to allow the down full loft. A reliable performer that has been the basis for much of our lightweight gear for some time. Order samples of this fabric & just pay the postage.

900 Fillpower Down

European goose down of very high quality. A truly excellent down with large clusters, consistent quality and lively long-term performance. More on our down insulation.

Waterproof HS2 outer fabric (weight: 88 gsm)

HS2 is PHD's high-spec 2-layer ripstop for waterproof outers on our down. It is light enough to be the optional taped shell on our sleeping bags and tough enough for expedition use in our Omega clothing. HS2 is completely waterproof (when the seams are taped) and offers excellent breathability. Order samples of this fabric & just pay the postage.

Standard clothing sizing chart

Weight shown is for medium (M) size.

If you find that you fall between (or across) these sizings, please contact us and we will quote you for modifications needed. Modifications cannot be made to sale items, bargain box items or other products not offered at full price. Reviews

Comments apply to standard Yukon Jacket without outer patch pocket and with water-resistant Drishell fabric not the water-proof HS2 fabric used in the sale version.

"Thanks again for getting the Yukon jacket too me in time for my expedition to Peru, as you would expect it performed flawlessly - it came in handy when we had to make an unplanned bivi at 6000m."
Lloyd Betsworth.

"Many thanks for the jacket that you supplied me for the Yukon Arctic Ultra. [It] performed perfectly in temperatures down to -35c. The light weight and small size was also a huge help and helped me gain second place in the race. I ... am now the second fastest person over the course and the fastest European."
Dr Stuart Gillet (wearing a prototype Yukon jacket).

"Without PHD kit I would have been toast."
Jacob Hastrup 2nd place in Yukon Arctic Ultra 100 mile race.

"I used a Yukon down jacket with Gore-tex outer on the expedition. It packs down small (half the size of my previous jacket), it's great for early starts and when the snow starts falling."
Dominic Southgate - Imperial College Reru Valley Expedition (Zanskar Himalaya, India).

"For more serious winter outings I use PHD's Yukon Down Jackets. PHD make the best lightweight kit on the market. I just wouldn't go Munro bagging in winter without mine. It's fab."
Phil Newby.

"Ben was impressed with the Yukon Jacket I bought for him. In fact, we ended up fighting over it on more than one occasion! Again, simplicity of design, total warmth, amazing lightness and quality of manufacture was what made it stand out from the rest."
James Garrett.

"Thank you for the Yukon jacket! It fits super, is warm and nicely made."
Mark van Onna.

"Just wanted to thank you for the prompt delivery of my Yukon down jacket. It is fantastic and I have worn it constantly since it arrived."
