Description:

Custom size version, specify Waist and Inside Leg sizes independently. This made-to-order service can cope with sizes from XXXS to XXXL and is ideal if your waist to inside leg ratio differs from standard, ready-to-wear patterns. Also available in standard sizes (with a shorter dispatch time).

Wafers are the new ultralight down clothing from PHD. Real outdoor gear which will add a raft of choices to your gear selection. Trousers, Jacket, Vest, and Socks. Each of them some of the tiniest and lightest we have ever made.

The natural complement to the Wafer Jacket. Cosy camp gear, which will boost the warmth of your sleeping bag too. Fits into our new half-size stuff sac.

This is the ideal warmer for spring or autumn camping, when that cold little evening wind makes the sunny afternoon a distant memory. And if the night's a bit colder than you expected, keep the Wafer Trousers on inside your bag: a definite booster, particularly if you've got the Wafer Jacket on too.

  • Ideal companion in a cool camp, bothy, or hut.
  • Pack without noticing the weight (or the bulk).
  • Midlayer to boost warmth: warmer than a fleece weighing more than twice as much, and windproof too.
  • Add performance to your sleeping bag.

Note: Fabrics as thin as 10X do not stand up well to direct abrasion, so we do not recommend our Wafer gear as actual climbing outerwear. But for all its thinness 10X is amazingly downproof and windproof and with reasonable care will go on giving you good service for years.

Please note: These custom-sized down trousers take approximately 45 days to be manufactured ready for dispatch. They are not returnable and customer loyalty discount cannot be applied.

Ultralight 10X fabric (weight: 26 gsm)

10X, PHD's first 10 Denier Fabric. 9,000 metres of the yarn used to weave 10X weighs just 10g, that's about the same as a £1 coin! For all its thinness 10X is amazingly downproof and with reasonable care will go on giving you good service for years.

1000 fillpower down

This rarest of all downs we reserve for the K Series. European goose down of unique quality. 1000 provides the highest warmth-for-weight performance possible from down. More on our down insulation.

"I wore my wafer trousers for three days non stop…never climbed in such horrific weather and conditions."
—Jon Griffith climbing Link Sar, Pakistan

"Astoundingly warm for the weight, and very comfortable. I ended up sleeping in it more often than intended as I was often reluctant to take it off before going to sleep."
TGO Magazine's Equipment Editor, Chris Townsend, following a 400-mile 29-day test in the Rockies.

"I almost cried when I packaged these up to return them to PHD as they were absolutely brilliant. Simply put, they are very light and very warm and helped me to recover every night as I just wasn't cold."
